How is this video? In particular the lesson on mic phase cancellation and his digital board.
Does he just glimpse over these 2 topics or does he go into full detail?
Also, does he cover compression and iem (in ear monitoring) and graphic eq?

I only saw it once but I remember him getting into those things pretty detailed. I wish they would put all 3 on one DVD

I bought that video as soon as it came out. I watched it a few times, but to be honest, I haven't touched it in almost 3 years.
From my memory....
He starts out with tuning a 12" tom...a few new ideas since his old videos, but nothing really too profound here.
He then goes over mic placement, mixing, gating, etc., and touches very briefly on phase cancellations and in-ear system. It's really not much more than a survey-level treatment. He skips many of the more interesting/complicated areas of sound engineering. As I remember, he mentions the word "compression" but then says he doesn't have time to get into the details.
There are some other band clips, too, but nothing much different than what is on the other two videos. I think the description on the back of the third video is a little over-embellished considering what is actually on the tape.
I don't think he did the topics justice. It seemed more like the kind of "lesson" you would get from a Guitar Center salesperson in the pro-audio department when buying a mixer or something like that.
If you're really interested in learning about these concepts, I've seen many other resources that are far better. If your a Weckl fan and want to hear Dave talk a little about the sound and engineering aspects, then may be worth adding it to the library.
I personally am a huge fan of Weckl and his sound, and I have been trying to learn more about the recording/engineering side of things, but this video was a bit of a let-down. I recommend seeing it if you can, but you're probably not missing much if you don't.
I agree with Steve: put all three on a DVD already! And while they're at it...put the DWB and jazz band performances, in their entirety on a second disc.
Now if they would only make a play-along out of that.........

The part on phase with the tom mics was really interesting. When phase cancellation occurs the toms sound real thin. Flipping the phase of the mic brings them back to life.

The only time phase cancellation comes into play is if you are using a bottom mic on the snare as well as a top mic. Although Simon Phillips is known for phase cancelling the top mic against the overheads.
